iPhoto VQS FAQ
Chapter 3: Organizing Photos Adam Engst - 02:14pm Apr 18, 2005 PSTHave questions about organizing photos (film rolls, albums, folders, keywords, searching, etc.) with Apple's iPhoto that aren't answered in my book, iPhoto 5 for Mac OS X: Visual QuickStart Guide? Ask them here! I can't guarantee that I can answer everything about the program, but I'll take a shot at any question. Read through the questions and answers below first!

Re: Chapter 3: Organizing Photos
When I view my photos in iPhoto 5, they are not sharp. I know I can correct this in Preview by changing one of my preferences, how do I correct this problem in iPhoto? Thanks. j

Re: Chapter 3: Organizing Photos
When I go into my system to access photos in iPhoto, I see many numbered files in my hard drive, when I open them, they either open up to new files or are blank. Where are the photos from iPhoto in mty hard drive? Thanks. jm

I'm not sure what you're referring to in Preview, so I can't compare exactly. Nor do you say what mode (organize or edit or slideshow) you're viewing the images. The best I can note is that iPhoto makes thumbnails of your photos for display in many situations, and the thumbnails are very small and highly compressed, so they won't be as sharp as the actual photos. However, in situations where the quality really matters (such as edit mode, when printing, or when displaying a slideshow), iPhoto should use the actual photo.

Yup, I explain the directory structure of the iPhoto Library Folder on page 19 of the iPhoto VQS. As I note on that page, DO NOT MESS with anything inside the iPhoto Library Folder or you will risk corrupting your library irrevocably!

Numbering photos in sequence
I am wanting to put four imports from the same event (850) photos into an album with the jpegs numbered in sequence. I have deleted and adjusted some of the images. They are in a folder and have duplicate numbers. (DSC0001,DSC0002 ect) Is there a way that iPhoto 5 will reasign new numbers and organize them automatically?
